Supporting
a shift towards more environmentally sound farming practices by
greening the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is essential to improving
the environmental performance and the social and economic resilience of
all European agriculture.
The event aims to deliver arguments on
the benefits of crop rotation and leguminous plant cultivation, in
terms of environmental protection, and their contribution, if applied in
the right way, to long term profitability at farm level. It will also
look at regimes which advise and monitor the implementation of such
systems and practices.
The conference will provide European
policymakers, stakeholders from the food and farming sector, and
representatives of civil society with the opportunity to explore the
effectiveness of support for crop rotation and leguminous plant
cultivation as a greening measure under the reform of direct payments.
