IFOAM EU Group activities at Biofach 2008 |

The IFOAM EU-Group used the opportunity to inform on the latest developments in the EU regulation on organic food and farming in different workshops and presentations organised by the Group. In cooperation with the Organic Unit in DG AGRI the new organic regulation that will come into force 1st January 2009 was presented. Furthermore the project on the establishment of an organic research vision was presented by the Group.
The workshops were well attended and there was a clear signal from the participants that the regulation is an area that spurs interest, worrying and a lot of questions.
The questions were answered by representatives from the EU institutional services, including the Head of the Organic Farming Unit in DG AGRI, Jean-Francois Hulot and members of his staff.
