November 10, 2009 - The Commission will soon publish a call for applications with a view to appointing members of the expert group for technical advice on organic production and establishing the relevant pool list.

Commission must secure adequate animal welfare at EU level: Organic provides a good reference
October 28, 2009 – The IFOAM EU Group welcomes the EU Commission objective to improve animal welfare at the EU level. The Commission report approved today outlining options for animal welfare labeling recognizes that organic farming already delivers higher animal welfare standards and therefore offers an opportunity for producers and consumers to improve, promote and support animal welfare. However, the IFOAM EU Group urges policy makers to take responsibility for ensuring sufficient animal welfare on EU level.

October 27, 2009 – The workshop programmes for the IFOAM EU Group’s Second Organic Congress planned for December 1st are now agreed and available on the congress website. The workshops focus on the role of organic food processors in providing models, and on relevant EU policies and in particular the Common Agriculture Policy to face major challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss and the global food crisis.
