Organic - Part of the Solution!
This is a
series of ten factsheets produced by IFOAM EU Group in autumn/winter 2009 to
illuminate the critical role organic farming can play in addressing some of the
EU’s most pressing environmental and socioeconomic challenges.
The series comprises
an introduction and nine topic sheets. The nine topic sheets each deal with one of the socio-economic or
environmental issues occupying a prominent position on the EU agenda, and
illuminate how organic farming can contribute to addressing it.

Investigate further!
The
factsheets were written as a brief introduction to a complex reality, with the
aim of inspiring readers to seek further in-depth information. Here on the website, all the sources used for
the factsheet series along with other relevant information have been catalogued
according to the factsheet topics; they can be accessed, along with the PDF of
each factsheet, by clicking on the appropriate heading.
Source
material includes journal articles from a range of titles; reports; books and
book chapters; conference papers; and policy briefs. Some pieces are not exclusively concerned
with organic agriculture, but all provide important contextual
information. The collection represents
the most up-to-date scientific thinking on various aspects of organic
agriculture. Most of the pieces are available
for free online. All pieces are in
English unless otherwise indicated.
Additional
material can be accessed online through Organic Eprints, the most extensive
public-access online database of scientific publications on organic
agriculture:
www.orgprints.org.
