Organic aquaculture production was put into the scope of European regulation by the EC reg. no 834/2007 (BG, ES, CS, DA, DE, ET, EL, EN, FR, IT, LV, LT, HU, MT, NL, PL, PT, RO, SK, SL, FI, SV). European Commission on the level of SCOF (SCOF consists of representatives of the Member States with a representative of the Commission as the chair) works on organic wine implementing rules.

Implementing rules on organic aquaculture production was published August 6th, 2009 in th EU Official Journal: Commission Regulation (EC) No 710/2009 of 5 August 2009 amending Regulation (EC) No 889/2008 laying down detailed rules for the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007, as regards laying down detailed rules on organic aquaculture animal and seaweed production (BG, ES, CS, DA, DE, ET, EL, EN, FR, IT, LV, LT, HU, MT, NL, PL, PT, RO, SK, SL, FI, SV).
