The start of the discussion on organic greenhouses is foreseen by the Commission for the end of 2012. First step is the discussion and the preparation of report by the Expert Group for Technical Advice on Organic Production (EGTOP). As regulating organic production in greenhouses touches upon many issues, IFOAM EU Group has published its first initial position on the topics of: conversion; use of CO2, water, energy and peat; of steam sterilization, fertilization and growing in the soil. In this paper we have taken a position on conversion, CO2 use, water use, steams sterilization and energy use. The IFOAM EU Group is working on its further positions.
