Call for a truly sustainable CAP
European experts call for the upcoming CAP Health check to put sustainability properly at the center of European agriculture. The meeting of European experts at the CAP Seminar "Organic Farming and Nature Protection to Allow Sustainable Growth" showed the importance of efficient and coherent (CAP) Rural Development programmes in the Member States to further develop organic farming and nature protection.

CAP Seminar Organic Farming and Lisbon Strategy
The seminar Organic Farming and Rural Development in the Context of the Lisbon Strategy took place in Brussels at the Bureau de Liaison Bruxelles - Europe from October 19-20, 2006. It aimed at examining to which extent organic food and farming can contribute to the overarching strategy of the European Commission, the Lisbon strategy.

Position Paper on Stakeholder Involvement
In September 2006, the IFOAM EU Group published its position paper on stakeholder involvement. The paper was following up one of the Group’s major criticisms of the
revision of the organic regulation proposal. This was that the organic sector was not
sufficiently involved in the process and that also the proposal does not include any stronger involvement in the future.

The EU Should Require Certification of GMO Farmers
Vienna, 5 April 2006. – On the occasion of today´s Vienna coexistence conference “Freedom of choice”, the IFOAM EU Group urges the European Commission to protect organic farming against any GM contamination. This event should be the start of a new EU policy that respects the wishes of the majority of European citizens.
