IFOAM India Organic Service Center
On the occasion of the opening of INDIA ORGANIC, held in Bangalore India on November 4, 2005, IFOAM President Gerald A. Herrmann formally launched the IFOAM India Organic Services Centre in the presence of a large crowd of organic stakeholders of India.  Taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the large gathering of organic stakeholders from India, a networking meeting entitled  “The needs of India Organic and the role IFOAM can offer through its service center,” took place on November 5th.

A joint initiative of IFOAM and ICCOA, this center aims at promoting nation wide adoption of ecologically, socially and economically sound systems that are based on the Principles of Organic Agriculture. In doing so, this initiative has a mission to help unite and strengthen the organic stakeholders and assist the organic movement in India in its full diversity.

The center maintains the following objectives:
  • To represent IFOAM in India.
  • To increase the membership of IFOAM from India and to maintain close contacts with members.
  • To provide quick local access to IFOAM materials and other resources and information.
  • To establish linkages to the regional organic movement.
  • To serve members and non-members with respect to organic agriculture issues in India.
  • To analyze issues of the regional organic agriculture movements and to assess the needs to strengthen organic agriculture in the relevant countries and regions.
  • To promote IFOAM and organic agriculture through special initiatives and campaigns.
  • To establish linkages with organizations and institutions related to organic agriculture in the region.
  • To fundraise for other projects agreed between IFOAM and ICCOA.
