IFOAM member organizations may create national, regional or interest based groups.
There are two categories of such groups:
- Regional or national groups, where members are organized according to geographic location.
- Interest or sector specific groups, where members are organized according to field of activity or interest.
These groups are a part of IFOAM structures and should not be seen as independent entities.
Initiatives are IFOAM member based groups that been constituted as interim groups and sought IFOAM endorsement.
Currently, the IFOAM Farmers'Group and GALCI, the IFOAM regional group for Latin America and the Carribbean, have this status.
