IFOAM going to the United Nations Climate Change Negotiations - COP19 in Warsaw, Poland

IFOAM is in Warsaw in the context of its long-term climate change campaign, to inform international and national decision makers of the multiple benefits of high-sequestration organic agriculture for climate change resilience, food security and sustainable development. IFOAM, together with the Environmental Defense Fund, is proud to host a side-event during the negotiations on transforming farming systems for food & climate security as well as sustainable rural development together with on Friday 15th November. Further details can be found hereIFOAM Official COP 19 Side Event.pdf
 
In addition, IFOAM is also one of the organizers of the Global Landscapes Forum, which is to be held on the sidelines of the negotiations with the objective to develop the potential of the landscape approach to inform future UNFCCC agreements and the achievement of the proposed Sustainable Development Goals. IFOAM is partnering with the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), Biovision Foundation and the Millennium Institute to co-host an event on Sunday 17th November that will explore the international, national and local policies and initiatives required to enable equitable and resilient sustainable rural development and realize the right to food at landscape and community levels – especially for vulnerable people. This IFOAM lead event will feature a range of key stakeholders including IUCN, UNCCD and FAO.
