The United States Department of State estimates that the process of
applying for and receiving a visa takes approximately one month, but
may take longer depending upon the country of origination. If your name
or a close variation is matched in a database indicating law
enforcement concerns, the process will take several weeks longer to
resolve.
After
the payment of registration fees is confirmed, the conference
organizers will provide you with a visa invitation letter via email.
Participants are strongly encouraged to begin the process of applying for visas by June 15th 2009 at the latest.
Airport
transportation There are 3 ways to travel
from Albuquerque (ABQ) to Santa Fe
(about an hour North).
1. The Sandia shuttle, info
at: http://www.sandiashuttle.com/ This is the easiest system and the one most
people use. The fee for a one way trip is 27€ /35$; round trip 39€/ 50$.
2. The new rail system,
info at: http://www.nmrailrunner.com/ This service is opening soon and should
be well established by Aug. It unfortunately does not stop at the airport, but
there is a free shuttle to the first stop from the airport. The Santa Fe stop is close to
the Convention Center and Hotels (walk, taxi or take a bus from there). It is a cheap and
fuel/carbon efficient system.
3. Rent a car and drive. All major rental agencies have offices at the international airport in Albuquerque (ABQ). http://www.cabq.gov/airport/car-rental
Local
transport From Hotels to the
Convention Center, participants can either walk (downtown hotels are very
close, but these are also the more expensive Hotels) or take a public bus,
which covers most of Santa Fe
and all Hotel areas plus there is a stop at the Convention Center. This should
work perfectly fine. Also, if anyone wants to do anything else in Santa Fe (WalMart
etc...),. the public bus system works well.
Home stay opportunities On a limited basis,
we have opportunities for home stays with local families in Santa Fe and the surrounding areas. If you
are interested in this, please advise, and we will contact you for final
details. Send your request with subject "homestay" to: conference@ifoam.org We need to make all arrangements by June, so please let us know your
needs as soon as possible.
Hotels We have contracted four hotels in and close around Santa Fe. Conference participants who want to benefit from the reduced hotel fee contingent need to put a note with their reservation that it is for IFOAM, or can call the hotel and make sure mentioning the IFOAM conference. Hotels are sorted in an ascending sequence regarding the prices.
