How to engage as an IFOAM Affiliate

The IFOAM General Assembly (GA) is the foundation of IFOAM where the World Board is elected for a three-year term. The GA provides strategic guidance to the World Board, which appoints official committees, working groups and task forces based on the motions and recommendations of IFOAM’s membership.
The GAs are very dynamic and lively gatherings, inspiring the members, board and staff to work towards achieving IFOAM's mission.

IFOAM members are invited to participate in the GA in a number of ways:
  • by submitting motions about strategic matters in writing before the GA;
  • by proposing and convincing candidates to run for the World Board;
  • by preparing and submitting a bid for hosting the next OWC and GA;
  • by contributing to the participative processes at the GA - motion bazaar, strategic consultations - and finally voting at the GA (motions, World Board, bids).
IFOAM Associates and Supporters are welcome to participate in the GA. Associates may ask for the floor and speak to the GA, although they do not have the right to vote.
