IFOAM General Assembly
The IFOAM General Assembly (GA) will be held from June 22 - 24, 2008 in Vignola, Italy.

How to register for the IFOAM General Assembly

IFOAM members and GA observers are welcome to book the General Assembly Food Package online. Food and drinks for the three day session are provided to the GA participants at a cost covering price of € 80,00. This package includes two coffee/tea breaks plus a simple organic lunch per day. Dinner costs are not covered. You can also choose between different diets. Please register now for the food package to give the organizers enough time to make it all happen.

A registration fee for GA participation is not required.

IFOAM member organizations, which are predominantly organic, have voting rights at the GA. IFOAM associates and supporters are invited to participate and can also speak in the GA plenary. However, associates and supporters do not have voting rights at the GA. While the topics discussed are related to internal IFOAM’s matters, like goals and objectives, organizational structure and role in the world, the event is open for observers.

How to register your vote

In order to get a voting card for the GA IFOAM member organizations have to register in Vignola. The registration desk is open on Saturday, June 21 from 16-20 hours and - for late comers only - on Sunday, June 22, from 8.00 – 8.45 hours at the Vignola Castle.

Only members who paid their fees in 2008 have the right to vote. IFOAM members shall bring along a proof of fee payment for clarifying unidentified payments.

According to IFOAM statutes one person can represent up to five member organizations at the GA. Member organizations have to authorize the person as GA delegate. The proxy sheet will be soon available here for download.


What will happen at the GA 2008

The IFOAM General Assembly convenes once every three years in conjunction with the IFOAM Organic World Congress. It is the democratic decision making forum for the international organic movement.

The IFOAM General Assembly is a very dynamic and and lively gathering, inspiring the members, board and staff to work towards IFOAM's mission.

At the upcoming General Assembly in Vignola, Italy from June 22-24 2008, the organic movement 'in its full diversity' from all over the world will deliberate upon the challenges and opportunities for the future.

The work and achievements during the current term of the World Board will be presented in a Presidential report. The Executive Director will explain how the Head Office staff, committees and task forces contributed to the work that has been accomplished. Additionally, reports about IFOAM's cooperation with governments, international NGOs will be given, and conclusions and reports from IFOAM conferences and events that took place in the intervening years since the last General Assembly will be discussed.

A real service to the Global Organic Sector:
                 The IFOAM World Board

Since the very moment of its foundation IFOAM has been developed by dedicated volunteers with a global vision for Organic Agriculture.
The World Board member job description provides insights in the tasks of a World Board member.
In Vignola 27 candidates will run for 10 World Board positions to be filled. For all those who are considering to run for the IFOAM World Board at a later stage, the GA is not to be missed.
