Fechas: El ciclo lectivo anual comienza la segunda semana de enero de cada año y concluye en la tercera semana de diciembre.
El calendario académico consta de cuatro trimestres: Un primer trimestre que consta de un solo bloque de 12 semanas y tres trimestres de 12 semanas divididos en bloques de 6 semanas cada uno.

Objetivos: En la Escuela de Posgrado del CATIE nos proponemos formar profesionales de alto nivel, que contribuyan al desarrollo de los sistemas agrícolas sostenibles en las regiones neotropicales.
Programa y contenidos:

Permite un plan de estudios individual y flexible, el cual puede enfocarse hacia temas de actualidad como la conservación y el uso de recursos fitogenéticos, el manejo integrado de plagas, la biotecnología y la agricultura orgánica.

Mediante los cursos regulares el estudiante puede profundizar en la caracterización, conservación in vitro, multiplicación y utilización de los recursos fitogenéticos, auxiliado por las técnicas de la biotecnología.

Los futuros profesionales pueden enfocar sus estudios hacia el manejo integrado de plagas, sobre todo en lo que se refiere a opciones de manejo con enfoque ecológico, entre ellas el control biológico y las prácticas agrícolas en sistemas de producción rentables, dentro del concepto de sostenibilidad, como lo es la producción orgánica.
