Target groups and admission requirements:
Applicants should have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in their undergraduate courses and have completed at least 6 credits in the natural sciences and 6 credits in the social sciences.
Prospective students seeking a Master's degree in sustainable agriculture must already have earned a Bachelor's degree and demonstrate a strong record of achievement in one of the natural, social, or engineering sciences.
Prospective students seeking the PhD must already have earned a Master's degree.  It is also expected that PhD applicants will have completed either a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the major program areas offered by the ISU College of Agriculture or its equivalent.

Training objectives: The intent of the Graduate Program in Sustainable Agriculture (GPSA) is to develop student competence and expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of sustainable agricultural systems.The program's curriculum is designed to satisfy the formal requirements for MS and PhD degrees as established by the ISU Graduate College as well as to foster transdisciplinary and systems-level thinking.

* Agroecosystems analysis
* Integrated crop and livestock production systems
* Ecologically based pest management strategies
* Organizational strategies for diversified farming systems
* Foundations of sustainable agriculture
* Sustainable agriculture colloquium
