Second Public Consultation and Call for Motions on the Best Practice Guideline

We are pleased to share with you the next version of the best practices reference document created by IFOAM and its partners in the Sustainable Organic Agriculture Action Network (SOAAN). Now called the Best Practice Guideline for Agriculture and Value Chains, this new version follows a public consultation held from 30 January – 31 March of this year, where SOAAN received much positive and constructive feedback on the content, tone, and focus of the document.

We ask for your feedback on this new version, until 31 July, 2013:

  • IFOAM members may make motions to revise the document, prior to a subsequent electronic General Assembly vote later this year. As with other IFOAM membership votes, motions may be converted into friendly amendments, if the IFOAM World Board agrees with the motion. Any motions not resolved in this way will be voted on by the IFOAM membership before a final voting round on approving the whole document, later this year. Motions (by IFOAM members only) should be made with the exact wording you wish to see in the final document. Comments are best submitted in track changes in the document itself, but we welcome any method you choose.
  • The general public is invited to offer comments, which the IFOAM World Board may accept as friendly amendments to revise the document.
