Organics represent a great example of Sustainability in action. The general ethical, social, economic and political principles of sustainability are put into practice, whether it is production systems, home gardening, supply chain relations (short chains, participative approach, etc.) or trade.
It is also important to consider the different contexts in which the organic production takes place and to try to harmonize strong local instances to a global picture. This must be made clear to all the stakeholders: consumers, producers, local and central governments, etc..

Education is therefore of paramount importance to this end: it contributes to fully grasp the complex role of the organic movement for a sustainable, healthier and happier world, and possibly to increase its effectiveness. It is through education that the basis of our philosophy of healthy soil, food and people, will manifest itself in achieving our goal of the worldwide adoption of ecologically, socially and economically sound systems based on the principles of Organic Agriculture.
If education is central to achieving our goals, then the conference will feature an Education Workshop as the framework for the debate on education contents and implementation strategies.

The workshop will consist of two parts:
1. a plenary session, where the overall picture will be provided;
2. an afternoon session, with 3 different slots:

• Vocational training
• Higher education
• Conclusion

Short presentations of relevant education experiences will be encouraged, focusing on a critical comment on their contribution to the module goal.

One of the workshop’s ambitions is to lay down the foundations for creating a network of institutions that are interested in education for the organic movement.
