IFOAM Membership Invited to Comment on Revision of GOTS
GOTS describes itself as “the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.” (See www.global-standard.org for more information).
GOTS has opened the first round of the revision input system regarding the revision of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) 2.0 and the corresponding Manual. The first revision draft of GOTS 3.0 and the corresponding Manual for the Implementation of GOTS are open for a 60 day comment period, starting 24th of June. Comments received by IFOAM will be compiled and channeled to GOTS before the 23rd of August, possibly in the form of an IFOAM position.
Since the scope of the IFOAM Basic Standard does not cover the requirements described in GOTS, we would like to base IFOAM’s position on the comments of the stakeholders and members of IFOAM. Therefore, IFOAM invites its membership and other selected stakeholders to send all their comments on the above documents to ogs@ifoam.org, before the 12th of August.
We would also like to provide you with the opportunity to discuss this issue with the IFOAM office and other IFOAM members through a Webinar (proposed date: 3rd of August). In case you are interested to participate in the Webinar, please send an email to ogs@ifoam.org before the 23rd of July.
