Mainstream Organic Agriculture at Rio+20
Twenty years on from the original Earth Summit IFOAM will be back in Rio together with 130 plus heads of state with a comprehensive and integrated advocacy program aimed at positioning OA and the global organic movement at the center of sustainable development (SD) policies and initiatives. IFOAM is coordinating over 20 leaders from the global organic movement in Rio and from June 12 to June 22 they will be leading, contributing and participating in a diverse and strategic range of events and negotiations at Rio+20 with key stakeholders both within and outside the official UNCSD conference. IFOAM’s emphasis is on awareness building and establishing and strengthening partnerships both within and outside the organic movement in order to assist stakeholders around the world in the transition to sustainable agriculture and food and nutrition security.
IFOAM is providing online platforms for increasing virtual participation in Rio+20. Follow the IFOAM blog for regular short video updates from Rio, register for two interactive IFOAM World Café sessions live from Rio on June 15 and 20 (from 7am Rio time) and follow us on Twitter:
